The owners of Weis Restaurant are sad to announce the closure of the restaurant after 46 years.

Sunday 1st March 2015 is the last day of trading for this iconic venue.

We would like to thank all of our wonderfully loyal customers, friends and staff for their many years of patronage and service.
We wish you all the very best.

Restaurant owner John Pohlman Jr said at the time it had to close due to economic factors and Toowoomba Regional Council’s decision to reject an application for a permanent marquee.

“We didn’t want to close it, but the council decision hurt us and any food business needs functions. If we don’t have them, it’s too hard,” he told The Chronicle.

Developers had attempted to turn the property into a multi-storey retirement village earlier this year, but Mr Stewart said the development application fell through.

“It had been proposed and there was a DA being processed for aged care. That didn’t proceed and another local buyer has purchased it for $3 million,” he said.

“It went under contract at the end of 2016 under a developer from Brisbane but that development didn’t proceed.”
